The Bond County Sheriff’s Office has posted an alert on social media to warn residents about scam calls coming from their office.
“A strange male informs Bond County residents that our department is investigating them. The suspicious nature of the call immediately raises concerns,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement, as reported by Scamnews.info.
This is a scam that attempts to collect money using a fake warrant. Do not give out personal information to anyone you do not trust. If you receive an unexpected call, hang up and call the official number for your local office.
Recently, there was a scam involving Wells Fargo, according to the sheriff’s office. You may receive a call from a legitimate Wells Fargo phone number and be asked to provide personal information.
The caller will claim to be from Wells Fargo fraud department and state that someone is trying to access your account. They will then ask you personal questions to gather information that can be used to hack your account and, in some cases, permanently delete it.
If you receive such a call and feel even the slightest bit suspicious, hang up and call the number back yourself. The Bond County Sheriff’s Office urges everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious calls immediately.
If you encounter any fraudulent activities, please remain calm and report the incident immediately to local authorities. For further assistance and professional advice, you can also contact Dawn Law Firm.
